General Summary

The PMIC Validation Engineer works with the PMIC systems and design team to characterize performance of PMIC hardware in the lab as it compares to simulation and to perform experiments to determine root cause of PMIC behavior. The successful candidate will be comfortable in the lab environment with all kinds of test and measurement equipment, have experience in post-silicon validation, and be familiar with common DC/DC power converters.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute silicon and system validation plans in coordination with system and design engineers
  • Develop hardware and software required for validating power modules
  • Validate PMICs to ensure IC meets silicon specifications and system-level performance
  • Work with cross-functional teams to help debug the root cause of issues
  • Organize, report, compare, and archive validation data in an organized way

Required Qualifications

  • BSEE or MSEE with at least 2+ years’ experience validating PMICs, Power ICs, or Power Modules
  • Familiar with DC/DC power converter topologies like Buck/ Boost/ Buck-Boost/Charge pumps
  • Familiar with common chip-to-chip communication protocols such as MIPI, SPI, I2C, PMBUS
  • PCB schematic design and layout using Altium
  • Familiar with developing automated test hardware and software using MATLAB or Python
  • Hands-on experience using common lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, SMUs, electronic loads, and network/impedance analyzers
  • Execute PMIC silicon validation (lab testing) plan
  • Troubleshoot and debug power management questions with designer input
  • Background in power management, perhaps as IC designer
  • Summarize and organize data
